R.E.M : Losing My Religion

Rapid Eye Movement -término con que los expertos denominan a un período concreto del sueño- esas son las iniciales que adoptó un cuarteto estadounidense para formar su nombre, R.E.M.
Ellos fueron pioneros del llamado rock alternativo y fuente de inspiración para bandas que se formaron desde los 80 hasta nuestros dias. Su mayor éxito hay que localizarlo a principio de los 90, con el tema "Losing My Religion" que los catapultó como banda de culto. Estaba incluida en su álbum de 1991 titulado Out Of Time, un álbum con tintes de espontaneidad, instrumentos poco comunes en ellos de viento y mandolinas, todo ello con estribillos pegadizos y letras donde expresaban sus contradicciones. El single les proporcionó problemas con la iglesia católica, aunque como contrapartida más de 10 millones de copias vendidas, varios Grammys, premios MTV y como decíamos antes, la mitificación del grupo.
